We had a great Christmas! It was a Christmas that taught me alot actually, it taught me you don't have to break the bank to make your kids happy or anyone else happy for that matter! This has been one hard year. We have overhauled two semi trucks within the year just as one example, things just had a way of breaking and or being crap this year. But, now...now... I'm actually THANKFUL. Yes, thankful! How?! Well, because I learned about the SPIRT of Christmas. I learned that giving from the heart and doing good for others is way more fun then running around the mall at 5 in the morning buying THINGS!

For Example: My Father in Law has Cancer. He was at our house earlier this month and sat in awe at our Living Room Christmas Tree. I cant tell you how long he sat and just stared. It seemed you could see Christmases past turning in his brain. He mentioned how nice it would be to have a big tree at their house again. Then a few hours later he went home. A few days later I was just plain upset and worried about how the rest of the year would go for us. I got to thinking, Id really like to buy this person this and do this or that and only got more upset and frustrated. Till, I walked into the living room and saw our tree all lit up and the magic struck. I remembered Harold talking about how much he wished they had a big tree. I wished I could give him the tree he wanted I remembered I had our old "smaller" 6 ft tree in the basement. So, I packed it up and drug the box across the ally over to their house knowing that they were gone for a round of his Chemo. Now, I was excited! :) I got the tree sat up added the lights and decorations and boom...instant Christmas! I'm sure I've never felt Christmas so much in my SOUL! It was an awesome warm generous feeling and I hope I don't forget it. Seeing his face after they got back from Chemo was one of the best!

The kids this Christmas got a Wii from Grandma and Grandpa Flammang and that was the major gift of Christmas. They got lots of nice stuff from lots of nice people. From us they got what they needed and one toy and a few movies. We got thank yours up and down and no one lost it because there were not gobs of toys under the tree! :)

Next year I plain to decomercialize Christmas even more. After I really stopped to think about it I decided its rather ridicules that what started out as a giving has turned into Mall Fights and Spoiled Children the whole country over. I'm (we are) done playing that game. Next year God willing will be a better year. Next year I want to open up our home for Thanksgiving to anyone who is alone or needs a place to go. Next year I have a very special plan for Christmas that has everything to do with loose change, mason jars, and late night secret drop offs to people who might need alittle extra help.(If you would like to do this to shoot me an email and I will send you the info) Haven't figured our yet how to find these people but we still have alittle time for that. :)

Hey, I am checking this blog using the phone and this appears to be kind of odd. Thought you'd wish to know. This is a great write-up nevertheless, did not mess that up.
