Check Out That Star {Dress Rehearsal}
"Danville" has fallen under a black cloud. O'Hare Epstein-Barr, the meanist women in town, is making everyone take down their Christmas decorations. When she discovers the living nativity (creche) scene that the neighborhood kids are constructing, she chases everyone away and gets ready to tear it down. Suddenly she galls into a deep sleep. Once in dreamland, she finds herself in Bethlehem on the very day that Jesus is to be born! Here she encounters the small, feisty, Angel of the Lord (Norma Jean) and the Innkeeper with an inn full of shepherds and sheep, to which O'Hare just happens to be allergic.
O'Hare, having difficulty figuring out whats going on and unable to get the upper hand that she usually does, starts contemplating all the events unfolding before her eyes. Things start going crazy when the Three Kings arrive in Bethelhamway ahead of schedule. Close on their heels is king Herod. Angel Jordan arrives to divert the king. O'Hare is givin the task by Norma Jean to keep Herod away from the Inn, and then Normas Jean hurrries to head Mary and Joseph off at the pass.
Mary and Joseph arrive at the stable and miss Herod by a very close call. After tricking Herond into leaving and encountering the baby Jesus, O'Hare awakens and shares her great news that Christmas is wonderful when we open our hearts to receive Gos free gift of salvation through Jesus.
I love that we do "these types" of plays at DC. To me this is what Christmas REALLY is. Ive never had any of the public schools plays hit home like the ones DC does. It brought tears to my eyes last year and did it again this morning at rehearsual. Its a great little play! Come and see it everyone is welcome and you will not be sorry that you did! Thursday night Dec. 9th at 7:00pm DC. :)
